National Move Over Day: Protect Those Who Protect You

Every year, National Move Over Day reminds drivers of one simple action that saves lives — slowing down and changing lanes for stopped emergency and roadside vehicles.
At Elizabeth Truck Center Towing, our crews work just feet from fast-moving traffic every single day. One careless moment can turn a routine service call into a tragedy. That’s why this day matters to us — and to everyone who shares the road.
What Is the Move Over Law?
The Move Over Law requires drivers to:
Move into another lane when approaching flashing lights, if it’s safe to do so
Slow down significantly when changing lanes isn’t possible
This protects police officers, firefighters, EMS, and tow operators who risk their lives helping others roadside.
Why It Matters
When you see flashing lights, cones, or a safety vest — that’s someone’s family member working just inches away from danger. Moving over gives them the space they need to do their job safely and get home at the end of the day.
